    Homemade Chewy Granola Bars

    You can cut into bars and wrap up for hiking or for school lunches, kids love them and adults think they make great energy bars.Best if allowed to set, covered one day, if you can keep the kids out of them.

    List of Ingredients




    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    1/3 cup peanut butter
    1/4 cup corn syrup
    1/4 cup butter, melted
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1&1/2 cups quick cooking oats
    1/4 cup sunflower kernels
    1/4 cup raisins
    3 tablespoons toasted wheat germ
    3 tablespoons cracked flax seeds
    1 tablespoons sesame seeds
    1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

    In a small mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, peanut butter, corn syrup, butter and vanilla. Stir in the oats, sunflower kernels, rasins, wheat germ, flax and sesame seeds. Fold in chocolate chips.

    Press into an 8-in. square baking dis coated with non stick cooking spray.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until set and the edges are browned. Cool completely on a wire rack. Cut into bars. Yiel: 1 dozen.

    Nutritional Analysis: One bar equals 239 caloriw, 12 g fat (5 g saturated fat), 10 mg cholesterol, 102 mg sodium, 31 g carbohydrate,2 g fiber, 5 g protein.
