    1-1/4 cups margarine
    1 cup brown sugar
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    2 teaspoons hot water
    1 egg
    4-1/2 cups once-sifted pastry flour OR 4 cups once sifted all-purpose flour.
    1/4 cup cocoa

    Recipe



    Cream margarine and blend in sugar gradually.
    Dissolve soda in hot water, beat into margarine mixture. Add slightly beaten egg, a little at a time, beating after each addition.

    Mix and sift flour and cocoa. Blend into first mixture, really well.

    Form into long rolls about 2-inches in diameter. Roll in wax paper and chill, preferably overnight.
    Slice and place on slightly greased cookie sheet.

    Bake in moderate (300�F to 325�F) oven for about 10 minutes.
