    German Onion Cake


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups flour
    • 1/4 cup corn starch
    • 4 tsp. baking soda
    • 3/4 tsp. salt
    • 5 tbs. vegetable shortening
    • 3/4 cup milk
    • TOPPING:
    • Sautee 2 cups onions cut coarsley, 2 tbs. butter, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. pepper and 1/2 tsp. marjoram
    • Paprika to sprinkle at the end


    Instructions


    1. In a food processor pulse 2-3 times: 2 cups flour, 1/4 cup corn starch, 4 tsp. baking soda and 3/4 tsp. salt

    2. Pulse again 3-4 times

    3. Add 5 tbp. vegetable shortening and pulse 2-3 times till coarse and add 3/4 cup milk and make a stiff batter

    4. Pour batter into a 10" grease cake pan and spreed evenly

    5. Spread onion mixture over the top

    6. Spreed 3/4 cup sour cream with beaton egg over the top

    7. Sprinkle with paprika

    8. Preheat oven to 450 degrees and bake for 20 minutes
