    Deep Fried Szechuan Pork

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 lbs. pork ribs, cut into 1" squares
    • 2 tbsp. chopped ginger
    • 5 tbsp. brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup soy sauce
    • 3 tbsp. sherry
    • 1/2 tsp. five spice powder
    • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
    • Szechuan sauce (see sauces)


    1. Place ribs in a sauce pan, cover with cold water and bring to a boil
    2. Simmer for 30 minutes and drain well
    3. Combine sugar, ginger, soy sauce, sherry and five spice powder
    4. Add ribs, stirring to coat
    5. Marinate 3 hours, drain and discard marinade
    6. Heat oil and deep fry in small amounts until golden brown and tender, drain well
    7. Make sauce
    8. Add ribs, stirring to coat well
    9. Simmer for 10 minutes and serve hot
