    Oven Barbecued Spareribs

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 side of pork spareribs (3-4 lb.), uncut
    • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
    • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
    • 1 cup water
    • 1 cup catsup
    • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup vinegar
    • 1 tsp. dry mustard
    • 1 tsp. chili powder
    • 1/2 tsp. paprika
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 2 tbs. Worchestershire sauce


    1. Trim and discard excess fat
    2. Arange ribe in a single layer in a shallow broiler pan
    3. Place lemon and onion slices evenly over meat
    4. Pour in 1/2 cup of water
    5. Cover with foil and bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour
    6. Meanwhile in a small sauce pan over medium heat, combine catsup, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, chili powder, salt, paprika, Worchestershire and remaining 1/2 cup of water
    7. Cook until sauce thickens slightly, about 10 minutes
    8. Remove ribs from pan, discard lemon and onions
    9. Cut ribs into serving sizes
    10. Discard pan drippings
    11. Return ribs to pan and brush with about 1/3 of the barbecue sauce
    12. Return ribs to oven and continue baking, uncovered, brushing often with the remaining barbecue sauce for about 45 minutes more or until meat is tender
