Bacon-Wrapped BBQ Burgers

List of Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon
- � cup chopped sweet onion
- 2 tsp olive oil
- � cup Homemade BBQ Sauce
- 1� pounds ground beef
- � tsp salt
- � tsp black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
Instructions
- Arrange bacon on a paper towel-lined microwave-safe plate; cover with another paper towel. Microwave on high for 2 minutes or until edges begin to crinkle, and bacon is partially cooked (can be done ahead).
- Preheat grill on medium-high heat. Combine onion and olive oil with ground beef, and shape into 4 patties, slightly indenting the centers. Wrap sides of each patty with 2 bacon slices, overlapping ends. Secure with a wooden toothpick. Sprinkle patties with salt and black pepper.
- Grill hamburger patties, covered with grill lid, 5 to 6 minutes on each side. Turn and brush with barbecue sauce (either the homemade sauce or your own). Remove from grill, and let stand 4 to 5 minutes. Remove toothpicks, and serve on buns.
Serves 4
Homemade BBQ Sauce:
◦ 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
◦ � cup apple cider vinegar
◦ ⅓ cup honey
◦ � cup tomato paste
◦ � cup molasses
◦ 3 Tbsp Worcestershire
◦ 2 tsp liquid smoke
◦ 1 tsp smoked paprika
◦ 1 tsp garlic powder
◦ � tsp black pepper
◦ � tsp onion powder
◦ � tsp salt
Whisk all ingredients together in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer, uncovered, 20 minutes, or until sauce has thickened slightly.
Use sauce immediately; or refrigerate in a Mason jar, covered, for up to 1 week.
