    List of Ingredients

    6 c. thin sliced onions

    ◦2 tbsp. slivered garlic

    ◦3 tbsp. oil

    ◦1 1/2 c. beef broth and 1 c. red wine

    ◦1 tsp pepper

    ◦6 x-tra lg. yellow onions

    ◦1/2 french bread sliced and toasted

    ◦6 slices swiss cheese


    In lg. skillet saute sliced onions and garlic until soft and tender. Cover cook over low heat 15 min. Add broth and pepper. Simmer 30 min. Cut off tops and peel off outside skin of extra lg. onions. Trim root area but leave intact. Place in dish and cover with plastic wrap. Micro on high 3 - 4 min. Remove from dish and hollow out center leaving 3 outer rings and bottom. Chop the removed onion and add to soup mix. Fill onion bowls with soup. Top with bread and cheese slice. Broil until cheese melts.
