Old Fashioned Cole Slaw
This is an original recipe and so good and easy you don't need to buy that expensive bottled dressing.
List of Ingredients
¾ c. mayonnaise
3 T. sugar
1 ½ T. white wine vinegar
1/3 c. vegetable oil
1/8 t. each: garlic powder; onion powder; dry mustard; celery salt
1 T. lemon juice
½ c. half and half (or use 1/3 c. heavy cream and fill to the half cup mark with water)
salt & pepper to taste
1 lg. head green cabbage
purple cabbage and carrots finely shredded (this is for color so it is optional)
finely chopped onions to taste (optional)
Blend together mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, and oil. Add remaining ingredients and stir until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.
Pour Dressing over the slaw, toss until vegetables are well coated.
I prefer to prepare it a few hours ahead to allow all the flavors to mingle.
