    Recipe Introduction

This stuff is fantastic. Every time I made a ham, I try a different sauce and Im never truly satisfied. Id still love to find a sweet/fruity sauce, but I dont think Ill ever be allowed to make a ham and NOT serve this mustard. I made it for Christmas Eve 2022 and everyone there loved it. We kept thinking of things that it would be good in: deviled eggs, potato salad, egg salad, etc. Mike smoked some BBQ after the New Year and tried it on that, and we all loved it. I made it with her microwave method and it was so easy and delicious.

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 cup white vinegar
    1/4 cup water
    2 eggs, beaten
1/3 cup mustard powder (good quality)
    3/4 cup brown sugar
    2 tablespoons whole mustard seed

    Recipe

In a medium saucepan, whisk (definitely use a whisk NOT a spoon) together the vinegar and mustard powder. Add the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a slow boil, stirring all the while. Cook and stir for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Store in the refrigerator in a glass jar.

    MICROWAVE METHOD:
Mix the ingredients in the same way in a microwave-safe container. Cook it on 70% power for one minute. Whisk well. Then cook at 50% power for another 4-5 minutes, whisking after each minute until it thickens. It will thicken even more as it cools.

    Keeps for about a month.

    Makes approximately 2 cups.
