    1 cup rice
    2 cups water
    1 teaspoon salt
    Variations Below

    Place rice, water and salt in a saucepan. Cover. Bring to a boil and then let simmer about 15 minutes. Let stand, covered, 5 minutes before adding any of the variations below.

    Almond: Stir in 2 tablespoons slivered almonds which have been browned in 2 tablespoons butter.

    Browned Butter: Add 1/4 cup browned butter and stir in.

    Carrot: Add 1/2 cup shredded carrots and 2 tablespoons melted butter.

    Marmalade: Our favorite! Stir in 1/4 cup marmalade and 2 tablespoons melted butter.
