    1 1/3 cups Bisquick® baking mix
    3/4 cup sugar
    3 tablespoons shortening -- or soft butter
    1 egg
    3/4 cup 2% low-fat milk
    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour an 8 x 8-inch baking pan.

    Mix Bisquick and sugar. Add shortening (or soft butter), egg and 1/4 cup of the milk. Beat 1 minute using a mixer or beat well by hand. Stir in gradually the remaining milk and the vanilla. Beat 1/2 minute more. Pour into prepared pan and bake 35 to 40 minutes or until cakes tests done.
