Green Beans with Caramelized Onions

List of Ingredients
2 pounds green beans -- fresh
2 large sweet onions
3 tablespoons butter -- divided
3 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
Trim beans. Cook beans in boiling water to cover 12 to 15 minutes or until tender. Drain. Can set aside, chill overnight, to make ahead.
Cut onions into thin slices and cut each slice in half. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, and onion; cook 8 to 10 minutes without stirring. Continue cooking onions, stirring often, 18 to 20 minutes. Reduce heat to medium; stir in remaining 2 tablespoons butter and brown sugar. Add green beans and cook 5 minutes longer or until heated through. Add vinegar; toss to coat. Serves 8.
