    Great Chocolate Cake

    Recipe Introduction

    My husband made this cake for my birthday when he forgot to pick up the one he bought at the bakery! This was much better in my humble opinion! For a non-baker, it came out great!

    List of Ingredients

    2 c. flour
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. baking cocoa
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. oil
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 eggs
    1 c. hot water
    Frosting of your choice


    In a large bowl combine dry ingredients. Stir in oil, buttermilk and eggs. Add water and stir until combined. Pour into a 9x13 baking dish. Bake at 350 for 35-38 minutes. Cool completely and frost.

    My notes: I put chocolate chips in the cake as well as on top of the hot cake. As they melted, I spread out for a simple frosting. The frosting under Texas Chocolate Sheet cake would work well also. Spread that on the hot cake.
