    Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake

    This is our most requested cake for birthdays and other occasions...it's easy and really good.

    List of Ingredients




    CAKE
    2 cups flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup butter
    1/4 cup cocoa
    1 cup cold water
    2 eggs
    1/2 cup buttermilk
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    FROSTING
    1/2 cup butter
    1/4 cup cocoa
    6 tablespoons buttermilk
    1 pound powdered sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 cup nuts -- (optional)

    Recipe



    Cake: Sift flour, sugar and soda. Place butter, cocoa and water in small saucepan; bring to a boil and add to dry ingredients. Ad eggs and mix well. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Bake in 15x11 jelly roll pan for 20 -25 minutes (or 9x13 pan for 35-40 min) at 350 deg. F.
    Frosting: While cake is baking, make frosting. Put butter, cocoa and buttermilk in saucepan; bring to a boil. Pour over 1 box sifted pwd. sugar. Beat until smooth. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour over hot cake right from the oven. If you're going to add sprinkles or anything add them right away as the icing gets a thin crust on it and the sprinkles roll right off.
