    Recipe Introduction

    These are rich little bars that are quite addictive.

    List of Ingredients

    Bottom Layer:
    1/2 cup butter
    1/4 cup sugar
    5 tablespoons cocoa powder
    1 egg -- beaten
    1 3/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
    1 cup coconut flakes
    1/2 cup finely chopped (or sliced) almonds
    Middle Layer:
    1/2 cup butter -- softened
    3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
    2 tablespoons instant vanilla pudding mix
    2 cups powdered sugar
    Top Layer:
    4 squares semi-sweet chocolate -- (1 oz.)
    1 tablespoon crisco shortening


    For Bottom Layer: In top of double boiler over simmering water, melt butter, sugar and cocoa. Add egg and stir until thickened, 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in crumbs, coconut and almonds. Press firmly into ungreased 7x11 pan.
    Middle Layer: Beat all ingredients together until light and fluffy; spread over crust.
    Top layer: Melt chocolate and shortening. Cool slightly, then pour over cream layer, spreading if needed. Chill in frig for 15 minutes, then cut into bars. Keep covered and refrigerated. Very rich.
