    I modified an older recipe

    List of Ingredients




    1/2 c. butter (not substitutes)
    1/2 c. shortening, such as crisco
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. granulated white sugar
    2 eggs, beater
    1 tsp. vanilla

    2 c. unbleached white flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 1/2 c. rice kriskpies
    1 1/2 c. quick or regular oatmeal

    8 oz. chocolate chips (about 2/3 of a large bag)

    Cream together shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl sift together salt, flour and baking soda. Mix well into butter mixture. Add rice cereal and oatmeal evenly through dough. Stir in chocolate chips.

    Note: I tried these with an entire bag of chocolate chips, and it was too much. They wouldn't stay incorporated well in the dough. This is just about the correct amount. The next time I'm going to try these with butterscotch chips.
