    Paradise Cran-Applesauce

    Serves: 10

    4 c. fresh or frozen cranberries
    1/4 c. water
    8 c. sliced peeled cooking apples
    2 c. sugar

    In a covered saucepan, simmer cranberries and water for 20-25 minutes or until tender. Press through a sieve or food mill; return to the saucepan. Add apples, cover and simmer for 35-40 minutes or until apples are tender but retain their shape. Add sugar. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    One 2/3-cup serving equals: 243 calories�1 gm fat (trace saturated)�0 cholesterol�trace sodium�63 gm carbohydrate�trace protein.

    Lower calories and carbohydrates by using 1 cup Splenda Granular in place of 1 of the cups of sugar. The 1 cup of sugar is needed to have the apples keep their shape.
