    Source of Recipe

    Marjorie Johnson

    List of Ingredients

Blue Ribbon Basic Sweet Yeast Dough:
    1 C lukewarm water (105-115 degrees)
2 packages of active dry regular yeast
    1/3 C powdered milk
    1/4 C sugar
1/4 C butter, margarine, or shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp salt
    3 1/2-4 C flour

    Blue Ribbon Tea Ring Filling:
    1/2 C sugar
    1-2 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 C chopped nuts
    2 Tbls butter

    Blue Ribbon Tea Ring Icing:
    1 C sifted powdered sugar
    1 Tbls melted butter
    1-2 Tbls milk
1/2 tsp flavoring (almond or vanilla- real vanilla is best)

    Recipe

    Sweet Yeast Dough:
Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Add powdered milk, sugar, butter, eggs and salt. Add 1/2 flour (approx. 2 C). Beat water and ingredients together with electric mixer for 3 minutes. With wooden spoon add remaining flour. Knead mixture on floured cloth until smooth and elastic. Takes about 10 minutes. Place mixture in a greased bowl and cover with cloth or saran wrap or top of tupperware container. Let it rise in a warm place until double in bulk. This will take approx. 1-2 hours. (80-85 degrees is ideal). (Suggestion to create warm place- heat a cup of water in a microwave for 2 minutes- then put dough into microwave. Don't turn on- but inside of microwave should be sufficiently warm to use for yeast rising). Punch the dough down and form into coffee cake, rolls etc- whatever you are making. Now put formed dough onto greased tin. Again cover and put in warm place and let rise again until double in bulk. then bake at 350 to 375 until golden brown. 15 to 30 minutes. Rolls will bake 15 minutes. Coffee Cake will bake 25 to 30 minutes.

    Tea Ring Filling:
Mix first three ingredients together. Roll out 1/2 dough that has risen once, not twice, to 8" by 12" rectangle. Spread 1 Tbls butter and 1/2 of cinnamon, sugar, nut mixture. Starting with 12" side- roll up like a jell roll. Form circle so ends meet. Place on greased cooking sheet. Seam side down. Make 1" cuts from the edge all the way around. Do not cut all the way
