    Split Pea or Ham & Bean soup, you decide

    List of Ingredients

    1 bag dried Peas or Great Northern Beans (you decide)
    5 C. Water
    5 Chicken Boullion Cubes
    2 Carrots, chopped
    2 Celery Stalks, chopped
    1 Onion, chopped
    1 Green Pepper, chopped
    1/4 t. dried Basil
    1/2 t. dried Oregano
    1/2 - 3/4 lb Honey Cured Ham, chopped in small pieces, (or any other good soup ham)
    2-3 cloves minced Garlic


    Soak Peas or Beans in water over night. In the morning drain peas or beans, rinse, then add them to soup pot with 5 cups of water. Bring to a boil, skim off foam and reduce heat. Add all other ingrediants except garlic. Bring to a boil again, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 hours, stirring occasionally. May have to add a little more water... 1/2 hour before serving add garlic. Top soup with chedar cheese if desired. Enjoy! Diana :)
