    List of Ingredients

    For the brownie dough:
1 box chocolate cake mix (your choice, but the original recipe says "German chocolate." I prefer Devil's food)
    1/3 cup condensed milk
    3/4 cup butter or margarine

    For the caramel filling:
    one 14-oz bag of caramels
    1/3 cup condensed milk

    also:
6 ounces chocolate chips (semi-sweet is my favorite)

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350.
get the caramels unwrapped (a long task).
Make the brownie dough. It will be doughy, not liquid-y.
Press half of it into a 9x13" pan. Bake this half at 350 for 6 minutes.
Remove the pan, and put chocolate chips on the warm dough so that they start to get melty.
Melt the caramels and condensed milk together. As soon as it's melted, pour that over the warm dough and chocolate chips. Try to keep the caramel away from the very edge so that cutting will be easier.
Use the other half of the dough to cover the caramel up. To do this, I usually shape it into flat little sheets with my hands and then cover it up like I'm layering sod or something. Little peek-through is okay, but you want to mostly cover it.

Then, bake the whole she-bang for 15 minutes at 350.
    Chill before cutting.
