    1 CUP MARGARINE
    � CUP GRANULATED SUGAR
    1 TSP VANILLA
    2 CUPS FLOUR
    � TSP SALT
    2 CUPS FLAKED COCONUT
    1 CUP POWDERED SUGAR

    CREAM BUTTER, ADD SUGAR AND CREAM UNTIL SMOOTH. ADD VANILLA. SIFT FLOUR, MEASURE, SIFT AGAIN WITH SALT. ADD GRADUALLY TO CREAMED MIXTURE. MIX IN COCONUT. SHAPE INTO 1 � INCH THICK ROLL AND WRAP IN PLASTIC. REFRIGERATE. SLICE � INCH THICK AND PLACE ON GREASED COOKIE SHEET.

    BAKE AT 300 DEGREES FOR 20 MINUTES.

    SIFT POWDERED SUGAR ONTO WAXED PAPER AND TRANSFER COOKIES ONTO IT. SIFT ADDITIONAL SUGAR LIGHTLY ON TOP. LET COOL.

    MAKES 3 � DOZEN COOKIES.
