    Beef Cubes and Gravy

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 to 1 pound lean beef cubes
    salt and pepper to taste
    sprinkle of paprika
    1 onion cut into small chunks
    oil for browning meat
    1-2 garlic cloves, chopped fine
    2 cans beef broth
    1 Tbsp tomato paste
    about 1/4 cup dry red wine


    Mix about 1/4 cup flour, salt, pepper and paprika in a dish or
    paper bag. Add the beef cubes and shake to coat them well. Remove
    meat from bag and brown in a frying pan with a little oil. When
    brown, put the meat in a pot large pot. Add the onion, garlic,
    tomato paste, broth and wine. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to
    a simmer-cover with a lid and simmer for 1-1 1/2 hours until tender,
    stirring once in a while-you may need to add a little water if too
    much broth cooks out. Serve with rice, mashed potatoes or noodles.
    You can also add cubed, peeled potatoes and carrots the last hour
    of cooking time if desired.
