    Brown Sugar Pecan Hearts

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup unsalted butter, slightly softened
    2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    3 1/2 cups flour
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon cream of tartar
    1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
    8 ounces pecan halves (approximately)


    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs. Add vanilla and mix well.

    2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together dry ingredients. Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture and beat well until completely combined.

    3. Spoon cookie dough into a cookie press fitted with a heart-shaped disc. Press dough onto baking sheets, about 1 inch apart. Press a pecan half into the center of each cookie. Bake about 10 minutes, until slightly brown.

    4. Remove cookies from oven and transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool. When cool, store in airtight containers between layers of waxed paper.
