    "The Ultimate Cake"


    List of Ingredients


    • 2c. sugar
    • 1 stick butter
    • 1/2c. shortening
    • 5 egg yolks
    • 1t. vanilla
    • 1c. buttermilk
    • 2c. flour
    • 1t. baking powder
    • 1/2t. salt
    • 5 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    • 2c. flaked coconut
    • 1c. chopped nuts
    • Icing:
    • 1(8 oz) pkg. cream cheese
    • 1 stick butter
    • 1 box powdered sugar
    • 1t. vanilla


    Instructions


    1. Cake: Mix together well the sugar, butter, shortening, and egg yolks; add vanilla and buttermilk.
    2. Mix well and add flour, baking powder and salt. Fold in beaten egg whites, coconut and nuts.
    3. Bake in three 8 inch layer pans for 35 mins. at 350.
    4. Icing: Mix ingredients together well and spread on cooled cake.
