    2 cups sugar
    1 cup butter
    3 cups flour
    1 teaspoon soda
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1 teaspoon allspice
    1 teaspoon nutmeg
    2 cups unsweetened applesauce
    2 cups raisins
    2 cups nuts
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla


    Cream shortening, add sugar gradually and cream until fluffy. Add whole eggs and beat well. Sift flour, etc, together. Add alternately with applesauce and vanilla. Stir in raisins and nuts. Bake in tube pan or loaf pan in 250 to 325 degrees for one hour and 15 minutes. Makes a 3 1/2 pound cake.
