    List of Ingredients

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1/4 cup shortening
    • 3/4 cup buttermilk
    • 3/4 stick butter
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper


    1. Add flour, salt, and baking powder in a large bowl.
    2. Add shortening and mix in
    3. Add buttermilk & stir with a fork until blended
    4. Place dough on a floured surface.
    5. Knead adding small bits of flour
    6. Roll out dough and cut into 2 inch strips
    7. Bring broth and chicken, again, into a boil
    8. Add butter and pepper
    9. Drop strips into boiling broth.
    10. DO NOT STIR
    11. Push strips down into broth with a fork.
    12. Reduce heat to medium
    13. Continue adding strips
    14. Cook 10 minutes after adding final strips.
