CARAMEL TOFFEE SQUARES (Jean Pare)
1 1/4 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 tsp more butter
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tbsp corn syrup
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Bottom: Combine the ingredients well, pack into an ungreased 9" x 9" pan. Bake at 350º for 20 minutes.
Second Layer: Combine in a heavy saucepan.Bring to a boil over medium heat, boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly as it burns easily. Beat with spoon slowly until it shows signs of thickening. Pour over the baked bottom layer.
Third Layer: Melt chocolate in saucepan over low heat or over hot water. Pour over the second layer. Chill
