scratch - Eggless Cake

1 c. chopped dehydrated plums or apples or raisins
2 c. water
1/2 c. butter
1 3/4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg, optional

Preheat oven to 350. Grease an 8x8x2" or 10x10x2" pan
or 8 1/2x4 1/2x2 3/4" bread pan.
Use a large saucepan and add the plums and water. Boil for 10 minutes. Add the butter and let it cool down.
In the meanwhile, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg. Blend into cooled mixture.
Pour into pan and bake for 35 minutes.
If using the loaf pan, bake 55 minutes to 1 hour.
Done when tester comes out clean.
