    Chocolate Peppermint Frosting

    1/2 cup(1 stick) butter
    1/2 cup cocoa
    1 (16.oz box)powered sugar
    7 Tablespoons half and half
    1 teaspoon pepermint flavoring
    1/2 teaspoon clear vanilla
    1/4 cup crushed peppermint or chocolate mint candy canes
    I use Hershey's brand candy canes.

    Melt butter in medium saucepan over low heat. Add cocoa and stir with spoon
    or wisk until cocoa is smooth and well combined with butter. Remove from
    heat. Sift powered sugar and add to cocoa mixture alternately with half and
    half, using wisk to blend. Mix until of spreading consistency. Stir in
    flavoring and crushed candy. Makes about 2-1/4 cups icing or enough for a
    9-inch layer cake or 13-inch by 9-inch cake. Taste best on devil's food or
    fudge cake.
