    OLD-FASHIONED SUGAR COOKIES

    1 cup shortening
    2 cups granulated sugar, divided
    2 large eggs
    1 tsp pure lemon extract
    1 tsp pure vanilla extract
    2-1/2 cups all purpose flour
    2 tsps baking powder
    1/4 tsp salt

    Recipe



    Heat oven to 375�F. Grease cookie sheets.

    Cream shortening; add 1-1/2 cups sugar, beating until light & fluffy. Add eggs & flavorings; beat well.

    Combine flour, baking powder & salt; add to creamed mixture; mix. Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls 3" apart onto prepared cookie sheets. With fork, press cookies to flatten. Sprinkle cookies with remaining sugar.

    Bake in 375�F oven 10 mins until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks; cool.
