    2 cups butter (4 sticks) at room temperature
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 cups sifted powdered sugar
    6 large eggs, at room temperature
    3 cups sifted flour, all purpose or cake


    Preheat oven to 350*. Cream butter and vanilla until smooth. Gradually
    add the powdered sugar and beat. Beat in all of the eggs. Gradually
    add the flour a little at a time. After all the flour has been added,
    beat until batter is smooth. Spray a tube pan or a fluted tube pan with
    a medium coat of non-stick cooking spray. Pour batter into prepared pan
    and bake for 1 hour.

    Let cake cool for 40 minutes in pan and then invert onto serving plate.
