Katies Caramel Bars

From a dear friend
1 package Pillsbury Plus German Chocoalte cake mix*
¾ c. butter, melted
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 package caramels
2/3 cup evaporated milk, didided
In a double boiler on med-high heat, melt the caramels and add 1/3 cup evaporated milk, stirring constantly.
In a bowl mix cake mix with the butter and the other 1/3 cup evaporated milk. (Do not follow the cake mix recipe).
Spread half of the cake mixture into a grease 13x9x2 inch pan. Bake for 6 minutes at 350º. Remove from oven. Sprinkle on chocolate chips. Pour melted caramel mixture over chocolate chips and spread evenly. Crumble the remaining cake mixture over this evenly, should not cover the entire top, you want some of the caramel showing. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes. Cut into approx. 24 squares
*Pkg says Moist Supreme cake mix
