    32 caramels
    5 tablespoons light cream or evaporated milk
    1 cup flour
    1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
    3/4 cup packed brown sugar
    1/2 teaspoon soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    3/4 cup butter, melted
    6 ounces chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips
    1/2 cup chopped pecans

    Melt caramels in cream. Cool slightly. Combine remaining ingredients except chips and nuts. Press half of crumbs into bottom of 11x7 pan. Bake at 350� for 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with chips and nuts. Spread carefully with caramel mixture. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Bake 15-20 minutes longer or until golden brown. Chill 1-2 hours.
