    SPICY APPLE SQUARES

    1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
    1/4 cup soft butter ( or margarine)
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    3/4 cup flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 cup chopped walnuts
    1 cup peeled, finely diced apple
    Powdered sugar

    Recipe




    Cream together brown sugar and butter until fluffy.
    Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Sift together flour,
    baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Add to creamed
    mixture, mix well. Add nuts and apples. Spread into
    a well greased and floured 8" square baking pan.
    Bake at 350� for 25 minutes. Do not overbake! Cut into
    squares to serve. Dust with powdered sugar just
    before serving.
