    Cream Pie from David

    1/3 cup flour
    2 Tablespoons butter
    2/3 cup sugar
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    1/4 tsp salt
    2 cups milk, scalded
    3 slightly beaten egg yolks
    1 9-in baked pastry shell
    3 egg whites
    6 Tablespoons sugar


    Mix flour, 2/3 cup sugar and salt; gradually add milk. Cook in double
    boiler until thick, stirring constantly. Add small amount of hot mixture to
    egg yolks; stir into remaining hot mixture. Cook 2 minutes. Cool; add butter and vanilla extract. Pour into baked shell and spread with meringue made of egg whites and the 6 Tablespoons of sugar. Bake in moderate oven (350) 12 to 15 min. or until golden brown.

    For Pineapple: Add 1/2 cup thoroughly drained crushed pineapple to
    cooled filling.

    For Banana: slice 2 to 3 bananas in pie shell and add filling

    Chocolate: Increase sugar to 1 cup; melt two 1 oz. squares
    unsweetened chocolate in the scaled milk.
