    Ring-Around Rosy Apple Cake

    List of Ingredients




    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    2 tablespoons butter
    1 egg -- slightly beaten
    1 tablespoon milk
    4 large apples -- pared and thinly
    sliced
    1 package cherry-flavored gelatin (3-oz.)
    Topping:
    1 cup sugar
    1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
    1/2 cup butter

    Recipe



    Resift flour with baking powder and salt. Cut in butter as for pie crust. Combine egg and milk. Stir this in first mixture. Roll out on floured pastry cloth into a rectangle to fit 7x11-inch pan, lightly greased and floured. Press batter onto bottom and sides of pan. Cover top with apple slices. Sprinkle fruit with cherry gelatin.

    For Topping - Mix sugar, flour and butter with fingertips or pastry blender until crumbly in texture. Sprinkle mixture over all. Bake in preheated 375 F. oven for 45 minutes.

    Serves 6
