    Upside-Down Apple Skillet Cake

    1/3 cup butter
    1 cup packed light brown sugar
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    4 medium apples.. Johnathans or Golden.. etc..Pealed ,cored, sliced..about 3 cups..
    1 18.25 oz.. Pkg Plain Spice cake
    8 Tablespoons(1 stick) butter melted
    1 Cup buttermilk
    1/3 cup dark corn syrup
    2 large eggs
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon


    For topping: Place butter in 10 inch cast-iron skillet over low heat to melt butter. Remove skillet from heat and with fork stir in brown suger and cinn. using fork, spread mixture evenly in bottom of skillet. Arrange apple slices over bottom of skillet.

    For cake: Place cake mix, melted butter, buttermilk, corn syrup, eggs and cinn. in large mixing bowl.. mix on low and increase to med until smooth and creamy.. about 3 min..

    Pour batter on top of apples in skillet, smoothing out.. Bake in 350-degree oven about 43-47 minutes..

    Remove skillet from oven and run knife around edges.. Invert skillet onto serving plate...

    If you don't have a cast iron skillet, use a 10" skillet at least 2 inches deep and has an oven proof handle..
