ROD RECIPES 2/18/2007 Play-Doh Day Play Doh Recipe

    Source of Recipe

    Recipe Introduction

Play-Doh was created in 1956 by Joe McVicker when he made modeling clay out of wallpaper paste for his sisterís pre-school students. The white dough could be shaped into anything, squashed back into a ball and kept soft in an airtight container. Rainbow Crafts in Cincinnati, Ohio sold the Play-Doh to department stores and schools. It was soon picked up by Kenner, made into lots of colors and sold worldwide.

Play Doh is a very popular modeling compound for kids. Play Doh is easy to handle, non toxic and mess free. Play Doh is relatively simple to make at home. Here's a recipe for Play Doh which uses flour as the main ingredient, and which can be whipped up in a jiffy.

    Wheat Flour - 2 cups
    Water - 2 cups
    Oil - 2 tablespoons
    Salt - 1/3 cup
Cream Of Tartar - 1/4 cup

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan over low/medium heat until excess moisture has all dried up, and play doh texture has been reached. Allow to cool, and then pack up into a sealed plastic container or zipper bags.
