    List of Ingredients

    1 pkg. yeast
    2 TB soft shortning
    2 tsp salt
    2 TB sugar
    3 c flour
    egg1TB oregano
    1/2 TB salt
    1/8 TB pepper


    Disolve 1 pkg. yeast in 1 1/2 c. warm water. Add 2 T. soft shortening, 2 t.salt, 2 T. sugar and 1 1/2 c. flour. Beat 2 min. on medium. Scrape bowl and stir an additional 1 1/2 c. flour with spoon. Cover with damp cloth and let rise in warm place until doubled (about 30 min.).
    Stir bateer down by beating 25 strokes. Spread evenly in greased 9" square pan. Pat top to shape. Brush with 1 egg mixed with 2 T. water. Sprinkle with 1 T. oregano,1/2 T. salt, 1/8 T. pepper. Let rise until double again (about 40 min.) Bake at 350 for 45-50 or until golden brown. Remove from pan , cool then fill with your
    favorite sandwich fixings.
