    Mom's Danish Pastry

    List of Ingredients

    Mom's Danish Pastry

    2 sticks butter or margarine
    5 cups flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
1 package yeast dissolved in 1/4 cup water
Cut butter into flour/salt mixture. Add dissolved yeast. Mix well.
Mix the following together and add to above:
    3 beaten eggs
    1/3 cup sugar
    3/4 cup warm milk
Place in covered bowl and refrigerate overnight.
    Filling:
    1 cup brown sugar
    1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup nuts, pecans or almonds

Mix well. Use 1/4 for each rolled out pastry.

Divide chilled dough into quarters. Roll each quarter into a 9x11 rectangle. Spread with filling. Roll up jellyroll style. Pinch together. Flatten slightly. Cut through lengthwise an inch from the top. Gently braid, pinch ends together, and tuck under.

Cover, let rise 3-4 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Drizzle with frosting of your choice.

Note: "A favorite memory of my mom is her wonderful baking! My favorites were warm cinnamon rolls and a real treat was Danish Pastry."
