Wild Rice Soup

Wild Rice Soup
1 cup wild rice
1/2 lb. bacon
3 tablespoons bacon drippings
3/4 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onion
1/3 cup chopped green pepper
2 cans (14 1/2 ounces each) chicken broth
1 can (4 ounces) mushrooms
3 cans cream of mushroom soup
Wash the wild rice. Boil rice for 15 minutes and drain; set aside.
Fry the bacon until crisp. Remove bacon and discard all but three tablespoons of the drippings. Saut� celery, onion, and green pepper in drippings until onion is transparent. Put in a large kettle and add rice, broth, mushrooms, soup and diced bacon. Cook on low heat one hour or more. Do NOT add salt!
