M&M Dream Bars
Source of Recipe
These are rich, chewy and delicious! This recipe was originally posted by "smile angel here" as part of a post for the board's favorite church cookbook recipe contest. Will definitely make these again - maybe the red/pink/white M&M's for Valentine's Day!
List of Ingredients
2 cups quick cooking oatmeal
1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup melted butter or margarine (2 sticks)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup peanut butter (I used smooth)
1 cup plain M&M's
1 cup chocolate chips
Combine the first 6 ingredients. Mix well and add the butter, stirring just until moist. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of crumbs for the topping. Press the rest of the crumbs into a greased 13x9 inch pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes.
Combine the sweetened condensed milk and peanut butter (after removing crust from oven because it thickens quickly!). Spread over the baked crust. Sprinkle on the M&M's and chocolate chips. Sprinkle on the reserved crumbs and press down slightly. Bake an additional 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool before cutting into bars.
