    Banana Split Cake

    1 pkg. yellow cake mix
    1 3.4 oz. banana instant pudding mix
    1 1/2 cup water
    1/3 cup oil
    3 eggs
    1 8oz. can crushed pineapple (drained & reserved)*
    1 8oz. Cool Whip (thawed and divided)
    1/2 jar Smucker's Hot Fudge Sauce (warmed- see note**)
    1 10oz. pkg frozen strawberries (thaw, drain well and reserve 3 tbl. juice)
    12 Maraschino cherries
    1/4 c. finely chopped walnuts


    In large bowl, mix cake mix, pudding mix, water, oil and eggs until smooth. Stir in pineapple. Bake in 2 sprayed 8" layer cake pans @ 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until cake tests done. In small bowl, combine 3/4 cup Cool Whip with strawberries. Mix well. Frost bottom cake layer with Cool Whip and strawberry mixture. Place 2nd layer on top and frost sides and top with remaining Cool Whip. Drizzle with hot fudge sauce, strawberry juice and place cherries on top. Sprinkle with nuts. Chill until ready to serve.

    * I pour drained pineapple juice into measuring cup and add enough water to make the 1 1/2 cups required for the cake mix.

    ** Do NOT let Hot Fudge Sauce get too hot as it will melt Cool Whip.
