Great for strawberry shortcake. Grandma Thea made this cake and then decorated it for her kids birthday cakes.
List of Ingredients
2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup salad oil
7 egg yolks
3/4 cup water
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp lemon extract
7 egg whites
1/2 tsp cream of tartar Recipe
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together into bowl. Make a well in the dry ingredients and add in order - salad oil, egg yolks, water, vanilla, and lemon extract. Beat until smooth. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until very stiff. Fold into egg yolk mix. Pour into ungreased 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 325 till toothpick comes out clean about 30-40 minutes. Cool inverted
