Poppy Seed Cake

1/2 cup poppy seeds
3/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup butter
2 cups flour
4 egg whites
Frosting:
4 egg yolks
3/4 cup sugar
3 1/2 Tbsp flour
2 cups scalded milk
2 Tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
Recipe
Mix milk and poppy seed together - can do this the night before. Cream butter and sugar. Add flour and baking powder alternately with milk and poppy seed. Beat egg whites stiff and fold into batter. Put in 9 x13 pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Meanwhile mix egg yolks, sugar, and flour. Add scalded milk. Stir and cook until thick. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Frost cake when cool.
