    Chinese Pepper Steak

    List of Ingredients

    1 1/2 lbs. boneless round steak
    2 clove minced garlic
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 cup soy sauce
    4 tbsp. hoisin sauce
    2 tsp. sugar
    2 28 oz. cans whole, peeled tomatoes - quartered
    1/4 cup juice from tomatoes
    2 red or green peppers, cut into strips
    6 tbsp. cornstarch
    6 tbsp. water
    6 green onions, finely chopped
    Hot cooked rice


    Trim fat from steak. Slice meat into strips. Combine steak, garlic, salt, pepper, soy sauce, hoisin sauce and sugar in crockpot. Cover and cook on Low about 4 hours. Turn to High. Add tomatoes, onions, peppers and tomato juice. Dissolve cornstarch in water in small bowl. Stir into steak mixture. Cover and cook on High 40 minutes to 1 hour or until thickened. Serve over rice.

    This recipe originally only called for one tomato. I just couldn't imagine this recipe with only one tomato so I made it as above. I am not sure if it was exactly 1/4 cup of the juice either. I just dumped some in. But it certainly was delicious!!
