    Tuna Steaks with Garlic, Tomatoes, Caper

    This is fast, easy, and delicious. It is adapted from Bon Appetit.

    List of Ingredients




    2 cups chopped onions

    2 garlic cloves, minced

    1 lb plum tomatoes, coarsely chopped

    1 cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves, uncut

    1-1/2 tbsp capers, rinsed well, drained**

    4 Ahi tuna steaks

    Recipe



    Heat a small amount of water or broth in a large skillet. Add onions, saute until tender, about 5 minutes. Add garlic, saute until golden, about 3 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, basil and capers**. Simmer uncovered until mixture thickens, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes.

    Meanwhile, broil or grill Tuna steaks in your usual fashion, only a bit more rare than usual. Add fish to skillet with tomato mixture and continue cooking about 2 minutes longer. Serve immediately.
