    Sliced Nut (Ice-box) Cookies

    Recipe Introduction


    This recipe has been used to the point that the paper it was written on has fallen apart. So the spices in the cookie are my best guess since only the first one or two letters remain.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 1 cup white sugar
    • 1 1/2 cups melted shortening
    • 3 eggs well beaten
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1 cup nuts
    • 5 cups flour


    Instructions


    1. Cream sugar and shortening, add eggs, then remaining ingredients. Combine well.
    2. Shape into a roll, and put in ice-box over night.
    3. Cut into slices and bake in 350 degree oven until light golden brown( 8-12 minutes).
