    Frosted Coffee Creams

    Marvel Sanders of Morgantown, IN served this many times to my family. I never knew the name, but could recognize the aroma as soon as I entered her kitchen. Have some friends over for coffee and serve this.


    List of Ingredients


    • Cake Ingredients:
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 1/2 cup white sugar
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 1/2 cups flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
    • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 1/2 cup strong coffee, cold
    • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
    • Frosting Ingredients:
    • 1/2 cup butter, softened
    • 2 cups powdered sugar
    • 1/4 cup strong coffee, cold
    • pinch salt


    Instructions


    1. Cream together the 1/2 cup butter, white sugar and brown sugar.
    2. Beat in the 2 eggs, one at a time.
    3. Sift together the flour, salt, b. powder, b. soda, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg.
    4. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the cold coffee.
    5. Add the vanilla and the nuts.
    6. Spread the mixture into a greased shallow pan (10 1/2 X 15 1/2) (will be about 1/4 in thick in the pan)
    7. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes (or less)
    8. While cake is baking, cream the butter with the powdered sugar, stir in the coffee and salt.
    9. Frost cake while hot.
