List of Ingredients




2 cups sugar
1 cup solid shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. baking powder
6 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 pounds dried apples, cooked and mashed
1 3/4 cups packed brown sugar
4 tsp.ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground allspice

Recipe



Combine sugar, shortening, eggs, soda, baking powder, flour, salt, buttermilk and vanilla. Divide batter into 6 equal parts and spoon into six greased and floured pans. Bake at 450� for 10 minutes.

Combine apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves and allspice. Begin stacking with one cake layer, spread filling, add next cake layer, spread with filling, etc., etc. until all six are in place. Let stand 8-12 hours before serving.
